TROOP 685 - RIGHT FOR YOU? As you start, realize selecting the right Boy Scout Troop for you may be the most important decision of your scouting career. Rest assured that there are many very good troops in our area, and you should visit several troops to find the one that is right for you.

Unlike Cub Scouts, where Packs are organized around a common gathering point like a school or a church, Boy Scout Troops are organized around common values, philosophies, and interests.  Boy Scout Troops do not necessarily draw youth from a specific church or school, but gather a set of youth with similar interests. Each Boy Scout Troop has its own unique character, traditions, and activity focus. Many troops focus on different activities like cave exploring, canoeing, backpacking, high adventure, etc. Picking a troop that focuses on activities that interest you is key to staying in scouting and on the trail to eagle.

All to often, a boy selects a troop because it's the one his friend selected, or it's just down the street ... only to find that the troop doesn't match his interests — the result being a lost scout. While it's always good to have a friend or two to join you as you begin your new journey, you will quickly find yourself quickly developing new friends as you work in the patrol method and cook, eat, and sleep with your patrol every month.

Come and check us out. You might want to call this Troop, "Home".

May Fete - May 6, 4:45pm

Posted on May 6 2017 - 1:59pm

The biggest event of any German community is the annual May Fete which was a day of celebration to begin with harvest season. Growth and progress has changed the Richland Community with the landscape changing from fields of beautiful grain sorghum, cotton, and cows to houses and even Lake Pflugerville. Even in the midst of all the growth, the Richland Community Club is committed to sharing with the younger generations what made the Richland area so special that German immigrants chose to settle in this area and call it their “Rich Land”. One of the ways to share the history with the ever-expanding community is to continue with the traditional Richland May Fete.
The Festivities begin at 5 p.m. with the Crowning of the Queens, the March, and May Pole. A special recognition will be held honoring members of the Richland Community Club that have been members for fifty or more years! Food will be available for purchase. A Silent Auction and Free Dance will be part of the activities. Troop 685 has the honor of performing the Flag Ceremony every year. If interested in participating please contact Jackson Sandlin, SPL.

Posted on Mar 27 2017 - 6:39pm

It is the Pre-Easter Cleanup for the Churchyard and the church is counting on the scouts, so let's show them what a good job we can do. We're starting early so we can be done by 10:00am, when the Archeology Merit Badge has their meeting. This is a good opportunity to get some service hours!
